The Dress To Impress winter update included three different chapters of a new festive quest, and there’s an annoying glitch that can stop you entering the code. If you’d like to find out the solution, keep on reading…
As part of chapter 2 of the quest, you get to ride Santa’s sleighs to get you to the boss battle section in chapter 3.
It’s such an adorable part of the quest, especially after being able to ride Santa’s reindeer beforehand.
You are given three sleighs to ride, one of which leads you to the big ice door to open, one leads to a dead-end, and one leads you to the snow tunnels.
If you walk through the snow tunnels, you’ll eventually come across the “ice throne room”, with a magical foundation in the middle.
On the fountain, there’s an “E inspect” pop-up which prompts you to enter a special code. The code you need to enter is PALINGENESIA.
However, if you’re anything like me, it felt like NOTHING would let me click to enter the code. It just made the screen spin around, and I tried clicking everything to try and get the cursor in the box to enter the code.
I decided to tweak lots of settings to try and make it work, and it actually worked, so I wanted to share what I had to do, just incase anyone finds themselves in the same position.
It’s a nightmare to try and get to the point where you enter the code, so you don’t want to have to redo the whole chapter of the quest, if this glitch stops you entering the secret code: PALINGENESIA.
Solution If You Can’t Enter The Fountain Code In Dress To Impress Winter Quest
With this spinning screen glitch, you can’t even click to access the menu screen, but if you press the ESC key on your laptop/computer keyboard, the menu box will appear.
You need to click on the “settings” menu.
You then need to then change your settings for both Camera Mode and also Movement Mode.
Change the settings on Camera Mode to: CameraToggle (mine was Default Classic before)
Change the settings on Movement Mode to: Keyboard + Mouse (mine was Default Keyboard before)
Doing this will lock the screen, so you can enter the code: PALINGENESIA.
Once you’ve entered the code, you’ll get a pop-up message to tell you’ve won a “???” badge (see it here), as well as a message to tell you’ve successfully unlocked ??? – you can see the badge description below:
“The primordial glacial waters gleam with enchanting energy. Offering the truth, and the ultimate power of knowledge. The cave echoes in a familiar melody, a sense of Deja vu rushes through you. You can smell the saltiness of the sea, and feel the warmth of the old sun. If you look closely, the clues about your past are right in front of you.”
Once you’ve got this message and the pop-up badge notification, you will need to change your settings back.
So, click ESC again to access the menu, click settings, and change your Camera Mode and Movement Mode options back to what they were, and voilà!
You’ve managed to bypass the spinning screen glitch and claim your reward, as part of the winter quest.
